Troyes

While Keith is busy composing his next funny/sarcastic post, let me get us caught up on our visits before arriving in the South of France.

Last in Normandy we had a 12 hour drive to get to the south.  Searching for a good spot for a stop along the way, we opened our trusty Guide Michelin and found a 3-star rated town in between…Troyes.

I must admit we had never heard of Troyes before, but it was well worth the visit.  Troyes has a charming old-town area filled with half-timbered houses from the 16th century.  It was one of those very warm evenings when we arrived, and we ate dinner in an outdoor terrace/square, surrounded by these wonderful buildings.  Our paté and glass of rosé were the perfect touches.

Troyes’ specialties include Chaource cheese and andouillette, their famous tripe sausage.  The Chaource was buttery and rich.  Somehow we didn’t find the time to try the andouillette.

  1. Surely Keith told you the story of his time in Monte Carlo with Helene of Troyes. The face that cost a thousand chips?
