The fall weather here has been
beautiful during the day but pretty cold at night. And in an old stone house with no central
heating, it can get downright nippy by bedtime.
Lately it’s been painful to get into bed, kind of like jumping into a
chilly swimming pool. Eventually you
warm up but those first few minutes – whoa!
We decided to check in town for
something to help with the cold beds.
Certainly the French would have some advanced technology to help us
out. After all, this is the country that
gave us antibiotics, the calculator and the Etch-A-Sketch. And if you want to talk about cutting-edge
technology, remember who invented the guillotine.
Luckily, one of the local shops
had just the thing, some new-fangled contraption called a bouillotte. It’s simple to
use, inexpensive, and very eco-friendly.
And we could get them in Stanford colors! I hope we can find them at home someday.
What will they think of next?

I have an Italian one but ooh la la, a French one!
